What is External Wall Insulation?
External insulation is part of a system applied to the outside of your home, primary used so slow down heat loss. E.W.I also allows you to customise the color and texture of your external walls, as a finishing render will be applied to protect the E.W.I from the elements. For older homes, this will significantly enhance the appearance, giving a fresh, modern look.

How does it work?

How to install external wall insulation?
Firstly all pipe work must be extended, this includes, wastepipes, soil pipes, outdoor taps and anything connected to the boiler. window cills may be extended to get the correct amount of overhang. The insulation is then securely attached to the exterior wall using mechanical and chemically fixings. A high polymer basecoat will be applied with mesh embedded for added strength. Finally an external render of your choice is applied, silicone based renders being the most common due to its flexibility.
