What is Monocouche render
Monocouche is a well-known external house render that protects your home from various elements while providing a sleek, flat finish. The term 'Monocouche' comes from French, where 'mono' means single and 'couche' means coat, referring to a single coat render or layer. Originating in mainland Europe, monocouche has gained popularity in the UK.
Available in a diverse array of colors, there is perfect match for every style of building, be it modern, traditional, or unique.
Monocouche rendering involves applying a single coat in two passes, distinguishing it as a unique cement render. Its one-layer application saves both time and resources compared to the conventional two-coat system.
Why choose Monocouche Render?
There are several significant benefits to using this product

Flawless finish - In my opinion the most aesthetically pleasing render, . Its flat, sleek and crisp appearance is unachievable by any other render making it the perfect choice those wanting to achieve a modern look.
New builds - MonoCouche render can be applied directly to new block work without the need to base coat. Making it cost effective alternative compare to silicone render.

Breathable - Unlike traditonal cement renders that completely seal the wall and restrict airflow, monocouche allows for breathability. This permits vapor to escape, enabling the substrate to dry when needed and reducing the chance of water damage.
Pre-coloured - Unlike Traditional renders that need painting after curing. This not only increases durability but also makes scratches less noticeable since the colour throughout the entire render.
Low maintenance - Unprotected Monocouche renders are prone to retaining dirt, however 'Lotus leaf' effect style sealers can be applied after the render has cured to stop build up and keep render clean.

What are the problems associated with Monocouche?

Monocouche render problems will always come from human error. Whether it be bad workman ship or not being suitable for the job in the first place. Monocouche may get advertised as been flexible the same way silicone render systems are. This is simply not the case. the render is prone to crack if there is movement in the building with or without base coats. older properties should be throughly inspected by a professional and if in doubt go with a silicone system instead.
Monocouche is also prone to pick up dirt, exposed walls with little over hang aren't suitable.
New builds with a monocouche render specification kept in mind by the architect is always the best option

How is Monocouche Applied?
Preparation is key with monocochue render, suction control primers are applied and plastic beads are fixed in place. As we have a render pump extra care will be taken to mask windows and other areas to protect from overspray. Once sprayed on and ruled flat the render is left to firm up. Once the render is ready the walls will be 'scraped back' to achieve flattness and a quality uniform finish.
